New Delhi, Jul 12: Indian women defeated Korea 1-0 in their first outing of the four-nation junior field hockey tournament which began in Gifu, Japan, on Wedneday.

Vinita Xess, after getting a pass from Harpreet, scored the lone goal for India through an indirect conversion of penalty corner.

On Thusday, India will meet Malaysia while they will take on hosts Japan on July 15.

The final as well as the third-place play-off matches will be held on July 16.

An 18-member junior Indian team is taking part in the tournament. G S Bhangu and Lal Ram Pari are accompanying the team as coaches.
