London, Jul 7: Sourav Ganguly had a miserable run with the bat but managed the best bowling figures for Northamptonshire who scored a five-wicket win against Somerset in a Twenty20 Cup cricket match in Taunton.

Ganguly picked two for 20 in his four-over spell to restrict Somerset to 188 for six after Northamptonshire won and toss and elected to field at the County Ground yesterday.

Sikh off-spinner Monty Panesar was the other bowler to take two wickets but he conceded 51 runs.

As Northants began their innings, opener Ganguly became the first casualty, being bowled out for four.

But D J Sales, who came at number four, stabilised the innings with his unbeaten 62 off 48 balls. Usman Afzaal (33) and R A White (37) were the other scorers while Lance Klusener chipped in with 28.

For Somerset, opener Justine Langer hit an aggressive 97 off 60 balls which included 11 fours and three sixes and M J Wood added 43.

But other batsmen failed to stand up to the task.

Charl Willoughby was the best bowler with 3 for 30.

At Grace Road, Leicestershire scored an 18-run win against Derbyshire without any substantial contribution from India's Dinesh Mongia in the Twenty20 Cup North Division tie.

Mongia made 20 off 21 balls while opener H D Ackerman again proved his reliability with 53 (5x4, 1x6) to take his team to 161 for 6 after Leicestershire won the toss and elected to bat.

S Stubbings was the only batsman to lead Derbyshire's challenge with 57 before his team was stopped short at 143 for 6.
