Kuwait, May 14: The parishioners of Belman celebrated their parish feast of St Joseph in the Indian English Academy School Auditorium (Don Bosco), Salmiya, Kuwait on Friday, May 5. Earlier, a thanksgiving Mass was held in the Holy Family Cathedral.

The celebration began with a prayer led by joint secretary Celine Pinto and a welcome song. President Clifford D’Souza welcomed the chief guest Fr Melvin D’Cunha, parish priest of the Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait and the main sponsor Al Zahem & Malhotra – Adidas Fragrance Co. and co-Sponsors - Tony D’Cruz, James Fernandes, James D’Sa, Sayed Dalve, Baby Vanessa and Veanna Pinto, Chris  and Danika Monteiro.

The chief guest delivered the festive message in which he praised the BELWAK parishioners for coming together and also lauded the motto of BELWAK – We Care For Each Other. The annual report was read by secretary Henry D’Mello, which detailed the charity work done by it.

As is done every year,  BELWAK honoured deserving personalities who have excelled in social/community work and in promoting Konkani literature. This time it was the turn of deacon Sylvester D’Souza for 35 long years of community service and Fr Melvin D’Cunha on completion of 10 years of priesthood.

Group dances were performed by Jovas Dance Group, Western Goan Dance Group and Belwak Dance group etc.  Konkani dance by BELWAK group, skits on bidi workers' movement and doctor's dispensary entertained the audience.

Child artistes Johnson, Palma, Jason, Pearl, Vanessa, Renita, Leann  Leviana, Asha, Joyce, Joel, Melissa, Moira and adult artistes Maxim, Lancy, Ida, Vimala, Helen, and Angeline played their part well. Tip Top Caterers served a special lunch.

Spot prizes, games for children and adults etc. were other highlights. Vice president Jerome D'Souza proposed a vote of thanks.

Jessie D’Cruz and Jason Lasrado compered the function.
