The Hague, Nov 11 (IANS): For the seventh time in 13 rounds, the Dutch Eredivisie got new leaders, Vitesse Arnhem, after former leaders AZ Alkmaar drew 2-2 against Feyenoord.

Vitesse beat FC Utrecht 3-1. The home team was awarded a penalty after a handball by Utrecht defender Kai Heerings. Christian Atsu gave Vitesse the lead from the penalty spot in the 31st minute. After another handball by Vitesse captain Guram Kashia, Utrecht were given a penalty as well, with Steve de Ridder converting the opportunity, reports Xinhua.

The match looked headed for a draw, but Mike Havenaar headed Vitesse to a 2-1 lead in the 86th minute. His teammate Davy Propper put the match beyond Utrecht with a fine strike just before the end.

Vitesse took over the lead from AZ Saturday, but the latter could have regained the top spot again with a win at Feyenoord.

The visiting team coached by Dick Advocaat took the lead after a quick counter attack in the 17th minute. Aron Johannsson scored on his 23rd birthday.

After half-time Feyenoord had a dream start, with striker Mitchell te Vrede scoring from a rebound and Lex Immers heading in the second goal. Feyenoord, however, could not hold on to the lead. After a foul of Daryl Janmaat on Roy Beerens AZ were awarded a penalty with Johannsson bagging his second.

Also Sunday PSV lost 1-2 at NAC Breda, while Ajax beat NEC 3-0 in Nijmegen.

Vitesse are on 24 points from 13 matches. They are followed by AZ (23), Ajax (22), FC Groningen (22), FC Twente (21), Feyenoord (21), PEC Zwolle (20) and PSV (19).
