Live Cricket Score : Bangladesh Vs New Zealand 2013 - 2nd Test- day 1

Daijiworld Media Network

Dhaka, Oct 21: Hello and welcome to the second Test between Bangladesh and New Zealand. The first Test was played on a flat pitch where both team batsmen made merry of the conditions. The bowlers had a hard time picking up 20 wickets. If the pitch plays the same way, then it will be another run-fest. There are some doubts on Robiul Islam, as he is not 100% fit and he might make way for debutant Al-Amin Hossain.

Ross Taylor will be playing his 50th Test match today.

Bangladesh have won the toss and have opted to bat

Teams:

Bangladesh (Playing XI): Tamim Iqbal, Anamul Haque, Mominul Haque, Marshall Ayub, Shakib Al Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim(w/c), Nasir Hossain, Sohag Gazi, Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Al-Amin Hossain

New Zealand (Playing XI): Peter Fulton, Hamish Rutherford, Kane Williamson, Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum(c), Corey Anderson, BJ Watling(w), Doug Bracewell, Neil Wagner, Ish Sodhi, Trent Boult

Match preview :

New Zealand's Corey Anderson has welcomed the extended gap between Test matches in the ongoing series with Bangladesh but is now ready to get back to work in Monday's second encounter in Dhaka.

The Black Caps were back in action in the nets on Saturday after respecting the Eid religious festival, with their sights trained on victory in the two-match series after a high-scoring draw in the first Test.

The match in Chittagong marked Anderson's Test debut, the all-rounder impressing with two for 34 in the Bangladesh first innings but struggling with the bat, amassing just nine runs in total.

'I think the break's done us well,' Anderson said on blackcaps.co.nz.

'It was tough, that first Test, my first one. We spent a lot of time on our feet, so it's been great to have a longer break than usual, and get back into training feeling refreshed and revitalised.'

Anderson hopes to use the lessons learned in his first Test outing when he turns out at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium for his second taste on Monday.

'It was a lot higher intensity than I was used to - when I came out, the crowd was going, and it's a lot different to four day matches, but yeah, I loved it,' he said.

'It's under my belt now, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

'We would've liked to have won the first one, and while our declaration gave us a chance, we've got things to work on for the next one, and hopefully we go about it the right way and come out firing.'

He added of the sub-continental conditions: 'The conditions we're faced with are nothing like what we have in New Zealand, but we've had good warm ups, and some of us have been away with New Zealand A in Sri Lanka and India, so we're all been over here long enough that we know what to do.'

Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan says a series victory will be the hosts' only target when the second Test gets under way.

'We are looking to win the series. We have a major opportunity, so we have every reason to give it our best,' Shakib told reporters.

'When I started six years ago, our goal was to play five days. Then it was to draw Test matches. Now we go out to win. We have been progressing as a team all along.

'Everything takes time. This team has been playing together for quite some time, so we have more confidence.'
