Mangalore, Mar 8: The Varsity is planning to integrate semester system into college education from the next scholastic year 2006-07. A decision has already been taken at the meeting of a high level committee of the varsity on Tuesday March 7.

The varsity is planning to integrate credit-based semester system to which the achievements in sports, NSS, NCC and other activities will be taken into account.

However, the possibilities of intergrading semester system will be further discussed during the meeting of University Education Board on March 20 and the Syndicate meeting on March 25.

Sources have revealed that the proposal once sent has to be approved by the governor who is also the chancellor of the university. If the governor approves the proposal by May 15, the semester system will come into effect from the coming academic year. But if the approval gets delayed, the system will be integrated from the 2007-08 scholastic year.
