Mangalore, Mar 7: In one of the major daylight thefts in recent times, the thieves who broke into Vamanjoor corporator Jayaprakash's house have decamped with cash and ornaments worth Rs 1 lac on Monday March 6.

There was no one in Jayaprakash's house on Monday morning from 9 to 11.30.  Taking advantage of this, the thieves gained entry into the house after breaking the lock.  Having ransacked the house, they have decamped with Rs 30,000 in cash, gold ornaments worth Rs 60,000, a wristwatch, shirt and pant pieces etc.  The total value of the stolen things including cash is said to be Rs 1 lac.

The Kadri police have registered a case in this regard.  More details are yet awaited.
