Bantwal, Mar 7: A person of Kodagu origin ended his life in a lodge situated in Pinto Complex near B C Road here on Monday March 6 morning.

The deceased has been identified as S L Devappa (33), a resident of Takeri near Somavarpet in Kodagu district.  He had booked room number 208 in a lodge at Pinto Complex on Saturday March 4. He had registered his name as Mash from Hassan at the time of registration.

The suicide came to light only after 11 in the morning when the room boy found the door still shut even after 11 am.  Though he knocked the door, there was no response from inside.  So, he with the help of others peeped inside the room from the window and found Devappa hanging from the ceiling fan with the help of the bed sheet.

The police also found a suicide note in the room.  Devappa had stated that he is committing suicide owing to the financial problems that he has been facing for long.

The Bantwal town police have registered a case in this regard.
