Moodbidri, Mar 3: The Adi Shakti Mahadevi Temple annual celebration of Suggi Festival ‘Rahi Pooja’ will be held on Friday March 3 night here near Swaraj maidan.

The Bovi community base temple and the worshipping idol was brought here by the Bovi community from north India, when they migrated from the north.

On Tuesday February 28, the utsav started with 2 bovi wards playing ‘Chendu’, a ball game.

On Friday the idol will be decorated with the puritan gold ornaments. The gold will be taken to Hanuman temple for traditional permission from Hanuman and then  in the evening the Bovi women will gather with eatable prepared from rice and come to the temple in a procession.

The whole community will then share the special eatables after the pooja,  which is called Rashi and Rashi pooja. This is unique because in other places the ritual is called Mari Deruni, but here it is known as Rashi Pooja.
