Suratkal, Mar 2: Breaking all its earlier records, the annual inter-collegiate festival of the National Institute of Technology-Karnataka, Suratkal had a congregation of 2,000 students from over 100 colleges.

Incident 2006 got off to a colourful start at the silver jubilee auditorium of the college on Wednesday March 1.

Chief Divisional Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Ullas M Kamath was the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the college has always been a trendsetter.

The festival, which is a platform for students from all over the country, enables showcasing of their talents, he said.

Student convener Vishal Agarwal, who read out a report, said that Incident 2006 and the preceding events were the result of intense teamwork.

The inauguration was marked by a Bharatanatya performance by Lakshmi Gopalaswami, which was followed by "War of the DJs" at the Students' Activity Centre, which saw the crowd sway to the popular tunes.

Director in charge of NITK Prasad Rao was also present at the inaugural.
