Puttur, Mar 2: One person was killed and five others sustained serious injuries when a car they were travelling fell into a gorge at Kanchana near Nelyadi here on Wednesday March 1 evening.
The deceased has been identified as Muniswamy (35), a resident of Bangalore. The injured have been identified as Nagendraswamy (45), Krishnamurthy (28), Perumal (33), Muni Reddy (50) and Sitaram (53). All of them are the residents of Bangalore.
They were on their way to Udupi Sri Krishna Temple when the driver lost control over the vehicle owing to which, the car fell into the roadside gorge. While Muniswamy died on the spot, the 5 others were injured seriously. They have now been admitted to a private hospital at Mangalore.
Uppinangady police have booked a case in this regard.
