The media is hounding me: Srinivasan

Chennai, May 27 (PTI): A defiant and combative BCCI President, who has decided to hang on to his position despite the IPL spot-fixing scandal, today said his resignation is being sought only by a "hounding media".

Srinivasan, whose son-in-law and Chennai Super Kings CEO Gurunath Meiyappan has been arrested for alleged involvement in betting, reached here after attending the IPL final last night in Kolkata, where the crowd booed him during the presentation ceremony.

"The press is hounding me, the media is hounding me. I have already clarified everything in the press conference. I have no reason to resign," Srinivasan retorted when journalists at the airport asked him about the scandal and whether he should resign on moral grounds.

Srinivasan had yesterday held a press conference hours before the final to declare that he would not step down. He also announced the setting up of a three-member enquiry panel to investigate the scandal, that led to the arrest of three Rajasthan Royals players.

The BCCI president asserted that he has done nothing wrong and rejected reports of a revolt against him in BCCI. He made it clear that he would not be "railroaded, pushed and threatened to quit".

"My support is complete and not one member in BCCI has asked for my resignation", he had said.

"I have a job and we will act strictly. I assure you, the BCCI will act without fear or favour to investigate and if player, franchise or owners have breached any rules, action will be taken", he said.

The three-member enquiry commission will consist of two members of the IPL Operations Committee and an independent person in whose appointment he will have no role.

The five members of the committee are Arun Jaitley, Rajeev Shukla, Sanjay Jagdale, Ajay Shirke and Ravi Shastri.

Poor Srunivasan doesn't want to accept the reality. He is over hounded by his son-in-law than anybody else. Truth is always bitter. I am sure it is shame on BCCI whic is behaving like a cat that drinks milk by closing eyes. IPL/CSK run by Gurunath is part of BCCI. Srinivasan is fully accountable in this scam and Media has done a tremendous job by unearthing the secret scandal. Where is the BCCI board? Are they just hiding and watching the fun and just scared of vibrant Media because it will expose even all other hidden ghosts hovering IPL. Jai Hind MEDIA.

    Right Mr. Srinivasan.

Do not succumb to the media or anyother sort of pressure unless and otherwise the Investigation is complete and concrete proof against your involvement is produced to the public. If you are innocent why you have to bow to the public pressure. Keep your morale high and face your opponents.

Even the sports lover in general and IPL supporters is particular are hounding you.
You better quit the post and spank your son in law for dishonouring the country and your IPL team.
Your disgruntled son, Ashwin is spitting venom about you and Gurunath Meiyappan's past misdeeds.
Better resign before the public demand for the cancel of your IPL Team 'Chennai Super King' license.
    Jai Hind!

He should quit to ensure fair investigation..Else how come one can believe that there will be a fair investigation..???He may not in the investigation team formed by BCCI, end of the day the team has to report to President..!!!Being a father-in-law to Gurunath Meiyappan, he could be a super natural human being, then only he won't influence the investigation...!!! After all its his lovely daughter's life at stake...!!!

How sick is this Indian Media Channels!!...they havent found anything on him, but they still talk about him quitting!!...why should he resign, just for satisfying the Media witch hunters?!!..that is ridiculous. Let law take its course!..and if something is found to be criminal in nature with respect to Srinivasan, personally, then he can be asked to step down..but the big question that really needs to be asked is, how much did the media channels like Times Now get from certain section of the BCCI, to dethrone Srinivasan.
