Srinivasan defiant, refuses to resign as BCCI president

Mumbai, May 25 (PTI): A defiant BCCI president N Srinivasan today rejected demands for his resignation in the wake of arrest of his son-in-law and CSK team owner Gurunath Meiyappan on charges of betting.

"I have done no wrong, I have no intention to resign. I can't be bulldozed or railroaded into resigning. Some sources are trying to put pressure now...There is no question of it," he told reporters on his arrival here.

He said the BCCI will follow strictly all its rules. Law will take its course, he added in a brief interaction with journalists at the airport.

Ever since news broke out about Gurunath, the CSK Team Principal, was involved in betting on IPL matches in association with actor Vindoo Dara Singh and other bookies, there has been a clamour that Srinivasan should step down.

The chorus intensified after the midnight arrest of his son-in-law by Mumbai Police which said that he was arrested after they came to the conclusion that Gurunath was involved in the offence of betting.

Why the Govt allow BCCI to have the owners of any IPL team in their Board?
There should be more use of technology to surveillance the lbws, wicket falls, catch-s, no-balls, wides, loose-balls, allowing runs at boundaries etc.
There should be independent Surveillance Department under BCCI to check the moment of all IPL players, empires and other associates before, during and after the tournaments.
Why the BCCI was sleeping when the outsiders where freely mingling with the players and other associates closely.
The law should be more strict and such greedy bunch of baphoons should feel the pinch for life.

There is no question of Srinivasan resigning, if he hasnt done anything wrong himself...just because the son in law indulged in betting, why should Srinivasan resign..and another thing why should the very successful CSK franchisee be scrapped, just because of some bad apples..the Chennai fans should protest vociferously, against this ridiculous attempt by the media to malign CSK!!..what the hell is going on?!!

Srinivasan behaves exactly like our power hungry politicians who stick to the chair like a leech. He should join politics directly instead of politicizing Sports.
