Cameroon Football Coach Lavagne Fired

Yaounde, Sep 14 (IANS): Cameroon national football coach Denis Lavagne has been fired after serving for only three months, the local media reported.

The decision Thursday came five days after the team was defeated by lowly-ranked Cape Verde in a 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, reports Xinhua.

He will be replaced by compatriot Jean-Paul Akono.

The Frenchman signed a permanent contract in June. He had also been the caretaker manager of the side since last November.
