Mangaluru, Nov 6: The historic World Konkani Music Mega Convention, organised by Mandd Sobhann, reached a landmark milestone today by successfully completing 85 consecutive hours of non-stop singing at the Town Hall, Mangaluru.
Aiming for an entry into the Guinness World Records for the longest singing marathon – multiple singers, the ambitious event is scheduled to run for a total of 12 days, 12 hours and 12 minutes, culminating in a grand finale on November 15 at 5 pm. Music enthusiasts and cultural observers from around the globe are following this rare feat in the history of world music.
Out of 300 registered troupes, a total of 85 teams have performed so far. By the fourth day, the stage witnessed active participation from musical groups across coastal Karnataka, Goa, Maharashtra and overseas.
The Mangaluru Town Hall remains filled with traditional and contemporary Konkani songs, attracting packed audiences and creating an immersive cultural atmosphere. Performers and attendees alike are taking part in the continuous marathon, supported by seamless technical, stage and operational logistics managed around the clock.
Speaking on the progress of the event, Mandd Sobhann president Louis Pinto and the organising committee expressed gratitude to the performing troupes, volunteers and supporters for their dedication to bringing global recognition to Konkani language and culture.
