Mangaluru, Oct 21: Mangaluru’s Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple witnessed a spectacular Dasara Shobhayatre on Wednesday evening, as thousands of devotees and visitors gathered to witness the grand procession marking the culmination of the Navaratri celebrations amid religious fervour and vibrant cultural displays.

The procession featured beautifully decorated idols of Lord Ganesha, the Navadurga goddesses and Sharada Mata, placed on elaborately adorned chariots. Colourful tableaux and cultural troupes representing various local organisations added to the festive atmosphere, drawing crowds along the route.

The Shobhayatre commenced with a ceremonial Mangalarati to the Navadurgas, following which the deities were taken through the streets of Mangaluru in a grand procession.

Covering major areas of the city, the procession continued throughout the night before returning to the temple via the Chitra Talkies route for the final visarjane (idol immersion) on Thursday morning.

Thousands of devotees and visitors lined the route to witness the annual spectacle, which showcased the region’s rich cultural heritage and religious traditions.

Kudroli Dasara, renowned for its elaborate celebrations and widespread public participation, remains one of the most prominent religious and cultural festivals in coastal Karnataka, attracting devotees and visitors from across the region every year.
