Mangaluru, Oct 16: Youth Congress leader Lukman Bantwal has been appointed as the state convener of the Rajiv Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sangathan (RGPRS), a key organisation championed by Lok Sabha leader of the opposition and AICC leader Rahul Gandhi.
Based on the recommendation of KPCC president B K Hariprasad and with the approval of All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC general secretary K C Venugopal issued the appointment order.

Bantwal has previously served as the president of the Dakshina Kannada district Youth Congress and as a member of the Bantwal Town Municipal Council (TMC).
The RGPRS is a prominent wing of the Indian National Congress aimed at bridging the gap between the party, rural local administrative bodies, and elected representatives. Its core objectives include creating awareness about the 73rd and 74th constitutional amendments and promoting local self-governance.
Reacting to his appointment, Bantwal said, "Rahul Gandhi is giving special attention to the RGPRS to strengthen the party at the grassroots level. I have been entrusted with this responsibility with immense faith, and I will strive to fulfil it to the best of my abilities. I am grateful to the party leaders, especially KPCC president B K Hariprasad, for supporting my appointment."
