Mumbai, Oct 12: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday extended the deadline for submitting claims and objections to the draft electoral roll in Maharashtra to October 26, 2026.
However, the final electoral roll will be published on November 16, 2026, as per the original schedule. The extension has been announced under the ongoing Special Summary Revision programme, with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.
The draft electoral roll for Maharashtra was published on August 31, 2026. Following the extension, citizens can submit claims and objections from August 31 to October 26. The issuance of notices and the resolution and disposal of claims and objections will continue from August 31 to November 10, according to an official release.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Maharashtra urged all eligible citizens, particularly first-time voters, to make use of the additional time to verify their details and update the electoral roll.
Voters have been encouraged to register new names, correct errors in personal details such as spelling, address and age, and raise necessary claims or objections regarding entries in the draft list.
The CEO’s office also issued a notice detailing the measures being undertaken as part of the Special Summary Revision drive directed by the ECI. The initiative aims to ensure that no eligible voter is left out of the electoral roll.
Following the publication of draft voter lists across all Assembly constituencies on August 31, electoral authorities have been carrying out procedures to add eligible voters, delete invalid entries and make necessary corrections.
To facilitate registration and verification, special four-day camps were conducted across 1.53 lakh polling stations in Maharashtra on October 3, 4, 10 and 11.
A separate five-day special drive was also organised in colleges and universities across the state from October 5 to 9 to encourage young people and first-time voters to enrol.
Citizens can approach designated electoral officials for assistance with registration and grievances. These include 1.53 lakh Booth Level Officers (BLOs), 7,100 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 288 Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and 36 District Election Officers (DEOs).
The CEO’s office reiterated its commitment to maintaining accurate and error-free electoral rolls and ensuring that every eligible citizen retains the right to vote.
