Panaji, Oct 11: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is likely to postpone his proposed visit to Goa as the Opposition prepares for a series of coordinated protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, according to sources.
The possible rescheduling is being viewed as a strategic move to ensure Gandhi’s presence in New Delhi during the next phase of political mobilisation, with several opposition leaders expected to join the demonstrations.

Sources said senior Congress leaders are closely monitoring developments as protests over alleged irregularities in the electoral process and concerns about democratic accountability are expected to intensify in the coming days.
The Congress is reportedly prioritising national-level political engagement over regional programmes as opposition parties seek to present a united front against the government.
Gandhi’s proposed Goa visit was expected to include interactions with party workers, public outreach programmes and organisational meetings aimed at strengthening the Congress unit in the state ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections.
Leaders familiar with the planning said a revised schedule could be announced after the current round of protests concludes.
Congress insiders believe Gandhi’s participation in the demonstrations could help strengthen coordination among opposition parties and reinforce their collective campaign over allegations of “vote chori”.
In Goa, the possible postponement has drawn mixed reactions within the Congress. While some state leaders consider the ongoing INDIA bloc protests a political priority, others view Gandhi’s visit as an important opportunity to energise party workers and advance the Congress’ statewide outreach ahead of the Assembly elections.
The final decision on the visit is expected to depend on developments surrounding the protests and the Opposition’s future mobilisation plans.
