Chennai, Oct 8: Vijay Sethupathi-starrer Baththa has maintained a steady run at the box office during its opening week, collecting Rs 1.29 crore net across India on its seventh day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.
The film, directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and co-produced by Atlee, has now recorded a domestic net collection of Rs 14.04 crore. Its India gross collection stands at Rs 16.26 crore.

Baththa opened with Rs 1.50 crore on Thursday, followed by Rs 2.70 crore on Friday and Rs 2.75 crore on Saturday. The film registered its highest single-day collection of Rs 3.10 crore on Sunday before earning Rs 1.30 crore on Monday, Rs 1.40 crore on Tuesday and Rs 1.29 crore on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, co-producer Atlee has expressed his ambition to take Baththa to the Oscars and deliver a speech in Tamil. Speaking at the film's success meet, Atlee said he wanted to experience standing on the Academy stage and was making efforts to take the film to Hollywood.
The film has also received praise from several personalities in the Tamil film industry. Director Shankar described Baththa as a beautiful film with a good story, humanity and humour, while praising Vijay Sethupathi's performance. He also said child actor Sai Prithviraj deserved a National Award for his performance.
Maharaja director Nithilan Saminathan, who has previously worked with Vijay Sethupathi, also praised the film, describing it as a beautiful movie that touched his heart.
Veteran actor Kamal Haasan met the film's team and congratulated Vijay Sethupathi, director Balaji Tharaneetharan, co-producer Atlee, composer Sai Abhyankkar and other members of the cast and crew.
Baththa marks Balaji Tharaneetharan's third collaboration with Vijay Sethupathi after Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom and Seethakaathi.
Set in 1986 Madras, the film follows a feared local gangster who is accidentally locked inside a school toilet by an eight-year-old boy. The unusual situation gradually develops into an emotional relationship between the two.
