Mangaluru: ICYM Bejai unit organizes Gandhi Jayanti, Swachh Bharat Day cleanliness drive

Mangaluru, Oct 3: The ICYM Bejai unit in collaboration with ICYM Episcopal Vicariate organized a ‘Cleanliness drive’ in observance of Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Day on October 2. The programme commenced at the KSRTC bus depot premises in Lalbagh.

The event began with ICYM Bejai unit president Vion Lloyd Lobo warmly welcoming the gathering, which included the ICYM Bejai director and parish priest (Vicar), KSRTC officials, ICYM Mangalore diocese president, Bejai PPC members, Bejai parishioners, ICYM Bejai unit members, and ICYM EV members, expressing gratitude for their presence and support.

Corporator Lancelot Pinto delivered an insightful speech highlighting the commemoration of Gandhi Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Day, emphasizing the vital significance of civic cleanliness.

Fr Stany Pereira addressed the gathering, commending the youth initiative and thanking the officials for granting the opportunity to serve.

Following this, the ICYM Mangalore diocese president Christon Joshua Menezes addressed the assembly, directing the message toward youth empowerment and the role of Gen Z in community development.

Special acknowledgment was extended to KSRTC Divisional Controller (DC) Rajesh, who made the event possible, as well as Netravati and her team, who attended and addressed the participants.

Following the stage programme, attendees were organized into teams of 4 to 5 individuals and assigned to various sections of the KSRTC bus depot. The teams actively carried out the drive across the vicinity, successfully concluding the cleanliness campaign.
