New Delhi, Jul 5: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh government, the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA), the Uttar Pradesh Police and other concerned authorities over allegations that a police booth is being illegally constructed on a designated green belt in Greater Noida in violation of the approved Master Plan.
A Bench comprising NGT Chairperson Justice Prakash Shrivastava and Expert Member Afroz Ahmad was hearing a petition filed by Rajneesh Chauhan, who alleged that unauthorised construction is taking place on green belt land at Malakpur village near Lakhnawali Road in Greater Noida.
According to the petition, the site has been earmarked as a green and recreational zone under the city's approved Master Plan. However, the police department is allegedly constructing a police outpost there without the required authorisation.
Taking note of the allegations, the Tribunal directed that notices be issued to all respondents.
During the hearing, the petitioner's counsel referred to a communication dated December 31, 2025, sent by the GNIDA to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Zone) Pooja Vashisth.
As recorded in the Tribunal's order, the authority had stated that the land falls within a notified green belt where a public park is proposed and that construction of the police booth had been stopped.
However, the petitioner contended that the work had continued despite the official communication. He submitted photographs dated December 30, 2025, and May 11, 2026, along with geo-coordinates, which allegedly show that construction activity was still underway.
The NGT directed the petitioner to provide copies of the application and supporting documents to the respondents within three days.
The respondents have been granted four weeks to file their reply affidavits.
The Tribunal also instructed the petitioner to serve notices on the remaining respondents and submit an affidavit confirming service at least one week before the next hearing.
The matter has been listed for further hearing on September 17.
