Mangaluru, Jul 1: Dr B Sachidanand Rai, a renowned orthopaedic surgeon from Mangaluru, has been selected for the prestigious IMA-KSB Doctors' Day Vaidya Chethana Award 2026, instituted by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), Karnataka State Branch, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical profession.
The award has been conferred in recognition of his exemplary professional excellence, dedicated service, ethical medical practice, and significant contributions to healthcare and society.

Dr Sachidanand Rai is currently serving as the president of the Karnataka Orthopaedic Association (KOA). He has made remarkable contributions in the fields of orthopaedic surgery, medical education, research, and community healthcare. His leadership and commitment to advancing orthopaedic practice and promoting ethical values in medicine have earned him widespread respect across the state.
The award will be presented during the Doctors' Day celebration to be held on July 1, at Dr Basavarajendra Auditorium, Bengaluru Medical College and Research Institute, Bengaluru. It will be presented by U T Khader, minister for Health and Family Welfare, government of Karnataka.
