Bantwal, June 28: Police have arrested a Bengaluru resident for allegedly posting an objectionable and communally sensitive comment on social media, which was deemed capable of disturbing communal harmony.
According to police, the accused had made the controversial comment on a Facebook post through a page named “Sanathani Simha”. The post was later flagged as inflammatory, prompting legal action on grounds that it could incite communal discord.
Following a complaint, Vittal police registered a case on September 18, 2025 (Crime No. 131/2025) under Section 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation into the matter.

After sustained inquiry, police arrested the accused, identified as Anand A, a resident of Vidyamanya Nagar in Bengaluru, on June 27, 2026. He was subsequently produced before the jurisdictional court as per procedure.
Investigations have further revealed that the accused is a habitual offender in similar cases. Police said that as many as seven cases have been registered against him across different police stations in the state for allegedly circulating objectionable content on social media platforms in the past.
Officials added that the arrest was made following verification of digital evidence and prior records, and further investigation is underway.
