Mangaluru: Absconding NDPS accused arrested for failing to appear in court

Mangaluru, Jun 25: An accused who had been absconding after failing to appear before the court in connection with an NDPS case has been arrested by the police.

The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of Shafi Manzil, Thekkil, Kasargod, Kerala.

According to police, a case had been registered against Mohammed Rafiq at the E&N Crime police station under Crime No. 03/2021 for offences punishable under Sections 8(C) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. During the course of the proceedings, the accused failed to appear before the court and had been absconding. Consequently, the court had issued a warrant against him.

Acting on the warrant, the station house officer and staff of the police station traced and apprehended Mohammed Rafiq on June 24. The accused has been arrested and is being produced before the court.
