Moodbidri, Jun 23: A car caught fire after flames reportedly emerged from its fog light, in an incident that occurred in Moodbidri town. All occupants of the vehicle escaped unharmed.
The car had been purchased by Masood of Kotekar from Avinash of Moodumarnad. Masood was travelling to Moodbidri with his family when the incident occurred.
As the vehicle reached near the old municipal building, smoke was noticed coming from the car. The occupants immediately stopped the vehicle and evacuated the young children and women inside. Moments later, the car was engulfed in flames.
Personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services department rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of members of the public, brought the fire under control.
Moodbidri police also arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection.
