Bengaluru, Jun 20: A cabinet meeting will be held in Mangaluru shortly, and solutions to all technical issues must be prepared before the meeting, chief minister D K Shivakumar has instructed.

He was speaking while chairing a meeting on coastal tourism development held at the conference hall of Vidhana Soudha on Friday.

D K Shivakumar directed officials to prepare a report within the next 15 to 20 days on the technical hurdles arising from Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and the Forest Department. He said investor-friendly and simplified procedures should be created, and solutions must be found to address the difficulties faced by entrepreneurs due to various departmental issues.

He stressed that priority should be given to promoting coastal culture at the international level while generating more employment opportunities and boosting economic growth. The 45 projects currently approved are expected to create 4,500 jobs, and this number should increase further, he said. He also noted that beaches should be incorporated into tourism projects without causing damage to the coastal environment.

The chief minister said a single-window system should be implemented to facilitate various approvals and prevent technical hurdles from delaying development projects. He also appealed to entrepreneurs to focus on the development of heli-tourism.

Energy and Tourism minister K J George, actor Rishab Shetty, MLAs G T Devegowda and Satish Sail, chief secretary Dr Shalini Rajneesh, Tourism Development Corporation chairman Srinivas, additional chief secretary Tushar Girinath, Tourism Department secretary Trilok Chandra, and others were present at the meeting.
