Udupi, Jun 17: Second-year PU student Anshel Sharon of Madhava Kripa School, Manipal, who displayed remarkable presence of mind in averting a major school bus mishap on June 15, was felicitated and appreciated for his courageous act.
The incident occurred when the driver of a school bus carrying students suddenly suffered a heart attack while driving, causing the vehicle to go out of control. Realizing the danger, Anshel Sharon acted swiftly and applied the handbrake, bringing the bus to a halt and preventing what could have been a serious accident.


His timely intervention ensured the safety of all 40 students travelling on the bus and earned widespread appreciation from the public and authorities.
Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna felicitated Anshel Sharon for his bravery and quick thinking. Speaking on the occasion, the MLA lauded the student's presence of mind, stating that his prompt action had helped save many lives and prevented a major tragedy.
Several BJP leaders and school representatives were present during the felicitation ceremony, including BJP Udupi City president Dinesh Amin, District Minority Morcha president Rudolf D'Souza, City BJP Yuva Morcha president Srivatsa, Minority Morcha president Denis Mascarenhas, Yuva Morcha office-bearers Nithin Pai, Dhanush B K and Bhushan Kumar, along with school manager Ramesh Bhat and other dignitaries.
