Hyderabad, Jun 17: Around 15 children were hospitalised in Telangana's Rajanna Sircilla district after allegedly consuming panipuri sold by a street vendor, triggering a suspected food poisoning incident.

According to Thangallapally Police, the children and some family members had purchased and consumed panipuri from a vendor who entered KCR Nagar Colony, a gated community in Thangallapally Mandal. Soon after, several children developed symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhoea.

The affected children were immediately shifted to the Civil Hospital in Rajanna Sircilla, where they are currently undergoing treatment. Police said all the children are under medical observation and their condition is being monitored.

Officials stated that no formal complaint has been received from the families so far. However, acting on the information available, police have taken the panipuri vendor into custody and launched an investigation into the incident.

Authorities are also examining the food samples to determine the exact cause of the illness.

Meanwhile, the incident comes days after a similar health scare in Madhya Pradesh's Guna district, where more than a dozen children reportedly fell ill due to suspected contaminated drinking water. Officials there have collected water samples for laboratory analysis as part of an ongoing inquiry.
