Moodbidri, Jun 7: Corpus Christi Church, Moodbidri, solemnly celebrated the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) on Sunday, June 7, with deep reverence, faith, and active participation from parishioners.

The celebrations commenced at 7 am with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, preparing the faithful for the holy Eucharistic Mass at 7:30 am. The mass was concelebrated by Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Fr Onil D’Souza, parish priest of Corpus Christi Church, and Fr Deepak Noronha. The liturgy was meaningfully organized by the parish pastoral council, while the parish choir enriched the celebration with devotional hymns.

Delivering the homily, Fr Deepak Noronha reflected on the central role of the Eucharist in Christian life. Referring to John 10:10, he emphasized the importance of understanding, celebrating, believing in, and living the Eucharistic mystery. He explained that receiving the holy Eucharist worthily fosters unity with Christ, transforms believers into witnesses of His love, inspires service to the poor, and brings spiritual consolation and peace.

He encouraged the faithful to approach the Eucharist with proper preparation, devotion, and a sincere desire for spiritual nourishment, describing it as the “food for the soul.”

Following the mass, a grand eucharistic procession was held through the streets of Moodbidri. A large number of faithful participated prayerfully, accompanying the decorated vehicle carrying the Blessed Sacrament. The procession was led by the clergy, altar servers, and the Corpus Christi Children’s Band, creating an atmosphere of devotion and celebration.

The solemn observance concluded with benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the church.

Fr Onil D’Souza felicitated Bishop Emeritus Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza and expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the success of the celebration. Refreshments were served afterward, fostering fellowship among parishioners.

The feast stood as a profound expression of faith, devotion, and unity within the Corpus Christi parish community.
