Kangana's 26/11 film gets title thanks to John Abraham

Mumbai, Jun 3: Actor-politician Kangana Ranaut has revealed that fellow actor John Abraham handed over the registered title Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata to her without charging any fee, a gesture she described as rare in the film industry.

The actress made the disclosure during the trailer launch of the film, which is based on the bravery of nurses at Mumbai's Cama Hospital during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks.

Kangana said the project was initially titled Nurses of Cama, directly reflecting its subject matter. However, as the film evolved, the makers felt a new title was needed to better capture its broader message and emotional significance.

Speaking at the event, Kangana said the title Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata had already been registered by John Abraham.

“The film was previously called 'Nurses of Cama'. We wanted to change it to 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata'. When we thought about this title, we realised it was already registered. But when we requested John Abraham, who had the title, he gave it to us within a day. Usually, people don't give up titles, but he did, without even charging us for it. So, I am very grateful to him,” she said.

Kangana explained that the title change was important because it reflects the spirit of ordinary individuals performing extraordinary acts of courage. The film highlights the actions of nurses who reportedly helped protect nearly 400 people during the terror attacks.

The movie focuses on a lesser-known chapter of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, paying tribute to the nursing staff of Cama Hospital who risked their lives to safeguard patients and others during the crisis.

Directed by Manoj Tapadia, the film also stars Girija Oak and Smita Tambe.

Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata is scheduled to release in theatres on June 12, 2026.
