New Delhi, May 10: The Delhi government will launch a five-day special rescue and service drive for destitute persons from Monday across the national capital.
Addressing a press conference at Apna Ghar Ashram in Pooth Khurd, Delhi Social Welfare Minister Ravinder Indraj Singh said the campaign will be jointly organised by the Delhi government’s Department of Social Welfare, Apna Ghar Ashram and Seva Bharti Delhi Prant.
The minister said the campaign for needy, helpless and destitute persons will be conducted across all 13 districts of Delhi from May 11 to 15.

According to Singh, the drive aims to rescue destitute individuals from various parts of the city and shift them to shelter homes, where arrangements will be made for treatment, care and rehabilitation.
He said 19 vehicles would be deployed for the rescue operations across Delhi and more than 300 people are expected to benefit during the five-day campaign.
A ‘one window system’ has also been established for smooth implementation of the initiative, with the Department of Social Welfare coordinating the operations and ensuring necessary support throughout the drive.
The minister appreciated the work being carried out by Apna Ghar Ashram, stating that the organisation not only rescues destitute persons but also facilitates their treatment, rehabilitation and reunion with families after recovery.
He further said several social organisations, including Seva Bharti, are supporting the initiative.
Singh also appealed to media organisations and the public to cooperate with the campaign and assist authorities in reaching people in need.
