Pune, May 8: Ravi Pandit, co-founder and chairman of K&P Group and chairman of KPIT Technologies, passed away on Friday morning at the age of 72, the company said in a statement.
The cause of death was not disclosed.
A prominent industry leader, Pandit played a key role in shaping India’s automotive software and mobility technology ecosystem over the past three decades.

He led Pune-based KPIT Technologies in its transformation from a domestic IT services company into a globally recognised software-defined mobility and automotive engineering solutions firm with operations across 15 countries.
Pandit also served as chairman of Kirtane & Pandit Chartered Accountants (KPCA), one of the largest Indian-origin professional services firms, employing more than 1,200 professionals worldwide.
Apart from his contributions to the technology and business sectors, he was actively involved in public policy, civic engagement and academic initiatives.
He co-founded institutions such as Pune International Centre and Janwani, aimed at promoting civic dialogue and policy development. He also supported research initiatives through the Centre for Sustainable Development at the Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics.
Over the years, Pandit served on the boards of several major organisations, including Thermax Ltd, World Resources Institute India and the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India.
He also held leadership positions in industry bodies, serving as President of the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) and contributing to various committees of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
Industry leaders and members of the corporate sector have expressed condolences, remembering him as a visionary entrepreneur and a driving force behind India’s automotive technology evolution.
