New vision of care: Blessing, commissioning of advanced radiography system at FMMCH

Mangaluru, May 1: Father Muller Medical College Hospital (FMMCH) marked a significant milestone in its commitment to patient-centered care with the blessing and commissioning of its latest radiography equipment, the FLEXAVISION F4 Digital Fluoroscopy System, on May 1. The occasion coincided meaningfully with the feast of St Joseph the Worker—the patron saint of the diocese of Mangalore, the FMCI chapel, and all who labour (International Labour Day) —invoking divine grace upon this advancement in healing ministry.

The festal Mass and the rite of blessing were led by Fr Vincent Vinod Saldanha, manager, Codialbail Press, Yeyyadi, Mangaluru. Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, FMCI, concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration along with other priests of the Father Muller management. The clergy later joined in the solemn blessing and commissioning of the equipment.

In his address, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo dedicated this acquisition to the service of patients, emphasizing that the integration of this advanced system would enhance diagnostic efficiency and streamline radiographic processes, thereby benefiting the ever-growing patient influx at the institution.

The gathering was formally welcomed by Prof Dr Ram Shenoy Basti, head of the department of radio-diagnosis & imaging. The event was graced by the presence of Prof Dr H B Suresh, head of interventional radiology, Prof Dr Krishna Kiran, faculty members, staff, and postgraduate students.

Fr George Jeevan Sequeira, administrator, FMMCH, and Fr Nilesh Crasta, administrator, FMHMCH, were also present, extending their blessings and good wishes. Representative from Shimadzu Sudhir Kumar Dubey, assistant manager sales was also present during the blessings.

Elaborating on the technological excellence of the system, Prof Dr Basti highlighted that the Shimadzu FLEXAVISION F4 series is a state-of-the-art, compact, remote-controlled digital radiography and fluoroscopy (R/F) system—marking its distinction as the first of its kind in the region. Designed for comprehensive clinical versatility, it supports gastrointestinal, orthopaedic, urological, paediatric, and emergency imaging.

Low-dose technology: Incorporates pulsed fluoroscopy to significantly reduce radiation exposure while maintaining diagnostic precision.
