Mangaluru, Apr 29: The two-day IEEE International Conference on Emerging Synergy, Science and Technology (ICESST 2026), organised by Srinivas University Institute of Engineering & Technology (SUIET), Mukka, was inaugurated on Wednesday April 29, at Hotel Srinivas, Mangaluru.
The conference was inaugurated by eminent Indian space scientist, former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), and Padma Shri awardee Dr A S Kiran Kumar, who lit the ceremonial lamp.




























The programme was presided over by Dr A Srinivas Rao, chancellor of Srinivas University. Guests of honour included Dr Venugopala P S, chairperson of IEEE Mangalore Sub-Section, Eshan Rao, trustee member, board of governors, Srinivas University, and Dr K Sathyanarayana Reddy, vice chancellor of Srinivas University.
Among those present on the dais were Dr Anil Kumar (registrar), Dr Ajay Kumar (registrar-development), Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde (dean, SUIET Mukka), Dr Praveen Kumar B M (director-research), and Prof Gaurav Prasad (convener).
Welcoming the gathering, Dr Ramakrishna N Hegde said the conference received 509 research paper submissions from multidisciplinary fields including Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, and Fundamental Sciences. Following a rigorous review process, 152 high-quality papers were selected for presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Venugopala P S highlighted the importance of IEEE platforms in promoting quality research and knowledge sharing among scholars and innovators.
Vice chancellor Dr K Sathyanarayana Reddy spoke about the relevance of the Gurukula system in modern times and encouraged students to identify social problems, develop practical solutions, and transform them into innovative products.
In his inaugural address, Dr A S Kiran Kumar said the world is evolving rapidly with advancements in science and technology. He highlighted India’s achievements in the space sector and said the nation is among the few countries capable of designing and building rockets and satellites. He stressed the need for continuous learning, wise use of technology, and innovation for the betterment of society.
He further noted that India is progressing steadily towards becoming a developed nation under the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
In his presidential remarks, chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao congratulated the organisers and said innovation, practical exposure, and skill development are essential for students to succeed in the modern world. He added that Srinivas University has incorporated innovation-driven activities into its curriculum to enhance student capabilities.
On the occasion, the conference proceedings were formally released by the dignitaries.
Dr Sandhya Shenoy introduced the chief guest, while Dr Praveen B M proposed the vote of thanks. Anagha delivered the invocation, and the programme was compered by Prof Rohan Fernandes.
Heads of departments, faculty members, staff, students, and invitees from various colleges, universities, and industries were present.
