Bhujbal says efforts needed for Sunetra Pawar to rise, raises questions on corporate action

Mumbai, Apr 13: Food and Civil Supplies Minister Chhagan Bhujbal on Sunday said that every political party naturally wishes its leader to become Chief Minister, adding that progress is possible only through sustained efforts and not expectations alone.

Speaking to mediapersons, Bhujbal said there have been many instances across states where women have served as Chief Ministers, and similar possibilities exist in the future as well.

Referring to political aspirations, he remarked that earlier there was a view that Ajit Pawar should become Chief Minister, and now there are expectations that Sunetra Pawar could be elevated to that position.

“Every party wants its leader to become Chief Minister. Sunetra Pawar is just one step ahead in that direction. Such a situation may arise in future. Many women have become Chief Ministers. If expectations are made and efforts are taken in that direction, only then progress is possible. It does not mean there should be any kind of rebellion,” Bhujbal said.

He also stated that in politics, advancement requires planning and consistent effort, otherwise one may remain at the same level.

Recalling his political journey, Bhujbal said he had taken oath as Deputy Chief Minister three times and missed the opportunity to become Chief Minister on at least two to three occasions.

“I had consciously taken those decisions. When I left Shiv Sena, Balasaheb Thackeray had said he would make Bhujbal the Chief Minister,” he said.

Bhujbal also reacted to concerns over a recent incident in a multinational company, stating that the police commissioner has taken serious note of the matter. He questioned how many such companies may be operating with similar issues in Nashik.

“Just because an incident has happened in one company, should all companies be shut down?” he asked.
