Mangaluru, Mar 23: The 28th Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Literary Conference, organized by the Dakshina Kannada District Kannada Sahitya Parishat, will be held from March 26 to 28 at Sparsha Kala Mandir in Bantwal.
Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru on Monday, March 23 district president Dr M P Srinath informed about the special features of the conference. The conference will include more than 30 book stalls, along with exhibitions of coastal handicrafts, cottage industry products, handloom items, and traditional food stalls.

The conference will be held under the presidency of senior journalist Chidambara Baikampady. Programmes such as Ajjikathe (grandmother’s stories), book quiz competitions, and dance performances by rural talents will also be part of the event.
On March 26 at 4 pm, a Kannada cultural procession will be held from Polali Dwara, BC Road Kaikamba to the conference venue, Sparsha Kala Mandir. The procession will be inaugurated by Prof Tukaram Poojary, president of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre. At 6 pm, the Kannada play ‘Moore Muttu’ will be staged.
On March 27, from 8 am to 9 am, there will be instrumental music by Rajesh Polali and team. At 9 am, the national flag will be hoisted by tahsildar G Manjunath. The inaugural programme will be held from 9:45 am to 12:10 pm and will be inaugurated by Dr D Veerendra Heggade of Dharmasthala. Former conference president and writer Dr Prabhakar Shishila will be present.
The souvenir will be released by assembly speaker U T Khader. Cultural programmes will be inaugurated by minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, and the exhibition will be inaugurated by MP Capt Brijesh Chowta.
From 12 pm to 1 pm, a seminar on language harmony in Dakshina Kannada district will be held. At 2 pm, 12 new books will be released by former vice-chancellor and scholar Prof K Chinnappa Gowda. Special lecture sessions will be held from 3:30 pm onwards.
On March 28, from 8 am to 9 am, there will be a classical music programme by Dr M S Bhat and team. At 9 am, a seminar on the new generation in literature will be held. At 11 am, there will be a discussion on medical science and medical education in Kannada language, followed by a discussion on theatre and life in Dakshina Kannada district at 11:30 am.
The three-day conference will feature literary discussions, cultural programmes, book exhibitions, and various interactive sessions, providing a platform for writers, artists, and literature lovers.
