Puttur: Man accused of killing wife survives suicide attempt

Puttur, Mar 23: A man who allegedly murdered his wife and later attempted to end his life by slitting his own throat at Golthil in Ariyadka village of the taluk on Friday has reportedly survived and is out of danger.

The accused, Bairappa, who had been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru in a critical condition after the incident, is said to be recovering, according to police sources.

It is reported that Bairappa chased his wife Savitri with a knife and stabbed her to death. He then attempted suicide by slitting his own throat. Police sources have confirmed that his life is no longer in danger.

Meanwhile, Savitri’s father, Tippa of Kumaramangala, had lodged a complaint at the Sampa police station, alleging that Bairappa killed his wife on suspicion of her having an illicit relationship. Based on the complaint, police have registered a murder case.
