Chikkamagaluru, Mar 16: The Sunday School of St Joseph’s Church, Hirebile celebrated the Annual Catechism Day on the fourth Sunday of Lent, also known as Laetare Sunday, the Joyful Sunday.

The Holy Mass was offered by the parish priest, Fr David Prakash. In his homily, he explained the importance and meaning of catechism in the lives of children. He emphasized the need to nurture faith, especially during the teenage years. Through the Catechism of the Catholic Church, children learn prayers, begin to communicate with God, and grow in their spiritual journey by walking with Him.

Fr David Prakash encouraged parents to guide and support their children in growing in faith. He reminded them that faith helps people face daily life and its challenges with courage and hope.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Sisters and catechism teachers who dedicated their time and effort throughout the year to teaching the children. He appreciated their cooperation and commitment in strengthening the parish catechism ministry.

On this occasion, 31 catechism students were awarded certificates and prizes in recognition of their excellence and achievements.

After the programme, the students were served food and enjoyed fun party games, making the celebration joyful and memorable for everyone.
