New office-bearers elected for city deanery under diocese of Mangalore

Mangaluru, Feb 22: The election process to select new office-bearers for the city deanery under the diocese of Mangalore was conducted in an orderly and well-organised manner on Sunday, with members unanimously electing the deanery secretary and two representatives.

Newly elected office-bearers:

As per the election results, the following members were elected:

• Secretary: Usha Fernandes, vice president of Neermarga Church

• Representative 1: Ruth Lobo, vice president of Kulshekar Church

• Representative 2: Santosh D’Costa, representative of Kelarai Church

The unanimous selection reflected the spirit of unity and cooperation among the participating members.

Election conducted by dean

The entire election process was efficiently overseen by Dr James D’Souza, dean of the city deanery and parish priest of Vamanjoor Church. The proceedings were carried out smoothly, ensuring transparency and consensus among the representatives.

Also present on the occasion were Fr Clifford Fernandes, parish priest of Kulshekar Church, and Fr Richard Aloysius Coelho, parish priest of Paldane Church. They congratulated the newly elected office-bearers and wished them success in their responsibilities.

Deanery comprises 12 churches

The Mangaluru City Deanery consists of 12 churches, namely: Kulshekar, Bondel, Shaktinagar, Paldane, Neermarga, Kelarai, Bajodi, Bajal, Angelore, Derebail, Vamanjoor, and Fermai.

The newly elected team is expected to play a vital role in coordinating pastoral activities and strengthening unity among the parishes under the city deanery.
