Mangaluru, Jan 31: The Department of AYUSH, in association with various ayurvedic and naturopathy institutions, organised Ayush Habba 2026 at the TMA Pai International Convention Centre, Mangaluru, on Saturday, January 31 and on Sunday, February 1.
The programme focused on creating awareness about India’s traditional systems of medicine and promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle among the public.
The event witnessed the divine presence of Paramapoojya Sri Sri Yogananda Saraswati Swamiji of Shree Nithyananda Yogashrama, Kondevoor Math, along with Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of the diocese of Mangalore, and Maulana Abdul Aziz Daarimi, president, SYS Dakshina Kannada, symbolising communal harmony and collective support for holistic healthcare.
































Among the distinguished dignitaries present were D Vedavyas Kamath, MLA, Mangaluru South; Dr H S Ballal, pro-chancellor and former vice-chancellor of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE); Dr M Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, Moodbidri; and Dr H R Nagendra, chancellor, S-VYASA University.
The chief guests included Prof M B Puranik, Dr Haaji Kanachur Monu, Dr Prasanna Narasimha Gowda and Dr Sathyamurthy Bhat. Principals and representatives from several reputed institutions such as Alva’s College, Yenepoya College, Sharada College, KVG College of Engineering, Kanachur Medical College, Father Muller Medical College and several other colleges were also present.
The programme brought together eminent doctors, academicians and AYUSH practitioners from across the district. Experts highlighted the importance of Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy in preventive healthcare and stressed the need to integrate these systems with modern medical practices.
Addressing the gathering, various dignitaries collectively appreciated the initiative of organising Ayush Habba and stated that such platforms strengthen public confidence in traditional medicine. They expressed that AYUSH systems play a vital role in building a disease-free society and in promoting both mental and physical well-being.
Ayush Habba 2026 provided a unique platform for delegates and the public to experience the rich heritage of traditional healing sciences. The programme featured health awareness sessions, exhibitions of AYUSH medicines, free medical consultations, yoga demonstrations and interactions with experts.
The organisers expressed confidence that initiatives like Ayush Habba would help people understand the scientific value of traditional medicine and encourage the adoption of healthier living habits. The two-day event concluded with a call to strengthen community participation in AYUSH movements and make holistic healthcare accessible to all.
