Dhanush praises GV Prakash’s ‘Happy Raj’, calls it a super funny and touching film

Chennai, Mar 18: Actor-filmmaker Dhanush has revealed that he has already watched the upcoming Tamil film Happy Raj and described it as a “super funny” and emotionally touching entertainer.

Taking to his X account, Dhanush shared his appreciation for the film and its team. “I have seen the film and it’s a super funny and surprisingly touching one from @gvprakash and team. Wishing the best of luck,” he wrote while promoting the film’s trailer.

The light-hearted romantic entertainer has been directed by Maria Elanchezian and stars G. V. Prakash Kumar and Sri Gouri Priya in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on March 27.

Production of the film wrapped up in January this year. According to sources close to the team, the completion of the shoot was celebrated with a cheerful photo session. The filming reportedly progressed smoothly across all planned schedules.

Members of the production unit said the director thanked the cast and crew for their commitment, discipline and collaborative spirit throughout the project. They also noted that the atmosphere on set was filled with positive energy that reflected the tone of the story.

Produced by Jayavardhan under the banner of Beyond Pictures, the film is described as a feel-good entertainer aimed at audiences of all age groups. According to the makers, the story centres on optimism, light-hearted emotions and relatable everyday experiences.

In the film, G. V. Prakash Kumar plays the titular character Happy Raj, with insiders saying his performance brings charm and a breezy screen presence to the role. Sri Gouri Priya appears as the female lead, adding emotional depth to the narrative.

A notable highlight of the film is the return of popular Tamil actor Abbas, who makes a comeback to cinema after a long break, generating considerable interest among fans.

The supporting cast includes George Maryan, Prarthna, Adhirchi Arun, Madurai Muthu and Sofa Boy Rasool in key roles.

The film’s technical team features cinematographer Madhan Christopher, music composer Justin Prabhakaran, editor RK Selva, art director Kumar Gangappa and costume designer Praveen Raja. The project has been co-produced by Jaikanth Suresh.
