Kanpur, Jan 19: Scores of citizens participated in a walkathon here to create awareness on health, education and sanitation. The event was organised by doctors and socially committed citizens of the city with the aim of spreading awareness and inspiring collective responsibility.
Participants gathered at New Hamid Hospital in Talaq Mohal and proceeded on foot towards Halim College. The walkathon was jointly flagged off by Balram Narula, Chairman, Textile Association of India, Colonel Zahid Siddiqui, M A Naqvi, Kamran Abrar Ali, Shahid Kamran, Jai Bajaj, Aditi Shukla and Deepika Srivastava.

Addressing the participants, senior doctors shared key messages related to health awareness, while Colonel Siddiqui and Shahid Kamran described education as the backbone of society and emphasised the need to strengthen and expand it. Their presence turned the walkathon into an inspirational platform, where each step symbolised a commitment to a better future.
During the walk, Vandana Nigam, President of Muskuraye UP Foundation, along with Mubarak Ali, Hemant Moh and Akhtar Hussain, led participants in taking a collective oath for cleanliness. The enthusiasm of youth and children stood out as they raised slogans such as ‘Clean Kanpur–Healthy Kanpur’ and ‘Educated Society–Advanced Society’, filling the atmosphere with energy and purpose.
Shahid Kamran, educationist and main organiser of the event, said, “This Kanpur Walk is not just a walk, but a powerful beginning of a mass movement for health, education and cleanliness.”
