Mangaluru, Jan 17: The kindergarten section of St Agnes CBSE School organised a joyful and engaging Alphabet Treasure Hunt activity for the students of LKG and UKG on January 16. The primary objective of the activity was to strengthen letter recognition, vocabulary, and early literacy skills through a fun-filled and interactive approach. The activity was conducted in English, Kannada, and Hindi, ensuring holistic language development among the children.
To create excitement and curiosity, the classrooms were beautifully arranged and thoughtfully prepared for the activity. From the very beginning, the children participated enthusiastically and displayed keen interest throughout the session.

One of the key activities involved hunting for letters hidden in pictures, where students carefully observed and identified the alphabets. This was followed by an activity in which children were encouraged to join letters to form simple words, thereby enhancing their phonics and word-building skills. In another engaging task, students searched for English alphabets to fill in missing letters, formed words, and matched them with corresponding pictures. This activity significantly improved their vocabulary and picture association skills.
For Kannada language learning, children were asked to match Kannada letters with the correct pictures. They also enjoyed hunting for Kannada letters, which strengthened their familiarity with the Kannada alphabet. Additionally, students were shown pictures and guided to match them with the correct Kannada words, making the learning process interactive and enjoyable.
In Hindi, children actively participated in searching for letters and matching them with appropriate pictures. This activity helped develop their confidence and increased their familiarity with the Hindi script.
Adding to the excitement, a fun game was conducted in which students had to search for a given letter and match it with the correct picture. Another hands-on activity involved the teacher distributing beads to the students. As the teacher called out a letter aloud, the children creatively arranged the beads to form the shape of the given letter. This activity effectively enhanced fine motor skills and reinforced correct letter formation.
Furthermore, students were encouraged to hunt for classroom objects that began with a given letter. This real-life connection helped them relate letters to their surroundings and sharpened their observational skills.
The Alphabet Treasure Hunt provided a joyful and meaningful learning experience for all the children. The students participated actively and followed instructions with great enthusiasm. The activity contributed significantly to the development of cognitive, language, and motor skills in a playful environment. Teachers guided the students patiently and motivated them at every step.
The Alphabet Treasure Hunt proved to be a great success, making language learning meaningful, interactive, and enjoyable for the young learners. Such activities play a vital role in building a strong foundation for early education.
