Mumbai, Jan 10: It is often said that success comes to those who never lose courage, and the journey of Avdhija Gupta from Maharashtra stands as a strong example of this belief. Coming from an ordinary family, Avdhija achieved All India Rank 43 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 through hard work, self-belief and a constant willingness to learn.
Avdhija Gupta’s UPSC journey is nothing short of a cinematic story. It took her five years, filled with several ups and downs, but she never stepped back from her goal. A resident of Maharashtra, Avdhija completed her class 10 education in Rajasthan and class 12 in Kolkata. After completing her graduation in 2020, she firmly decided that the Civil Services would be her chosen path.

Originally from Maharashtra, Avdhija’s education took place in different parts of the country due to her father’s transferable job. After completing her schooling in Rajasthan and Kolkata, she set her sights on the Civil Services at a young age.
Her preparation journey began after graduation in 2020. In her first two attempts, she could not clear the preliminary examination. In 2023, she appeared for the exam for the third time with high hopes, but success still eluded her. Repeated failures can shake anyone’s confidence, but Avdhija had made a promise to herself that she would not give up midway.
The experiences of the past four years helped her prepare thoroughly. She understood where she was facing difficulties and how to overcome them. This time, there was neither haste nor fear—only a strong determination not to return empty-handed. The year 2024 turned out to be the most significant phase of her life as Avdhija secured AIR 43 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination.
Her success once again proves that failure is never final unless one accepts defeat.
