From setbacks to success: J&K's Dr Iram Chaudhary gets UPSC rank 40


New Delhi, Dec 31: Proving that perseverance and determination can overcome repeated setbacks, Dr Iram Chaudhary from Jammu and Kashmir has secured an all-India 40th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024 in her fourth attempt.

Hailing from Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Iram’s journey to one of the country’s most challenging examinations was marked by resilience. Despite facing failure in her first three attempts, she remained focused on her goal and continued her preparation with renewed determination.

Dr Iram completed her MBBS degree in 2018 and later decided to pursue a career in civil services with the aim of serving the nation. Notably, she prepared for the UPSC examination without joining any coaching institute, relying instead on self-study, a well-planned strategy and strong self-belief.

In the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023, she had scored 724 marks in the written examination and 182 marks in the interview, securing a total of 906 marks. Building on that experience, she improved her performance in the subsequent attempt and achieved an all-India rank of 40 in the 2024 examination.

Dr Iram Chaudhary’s success has become a source of inspiration for lacs of UPSC aspirants across the country, especially those who feel disheartened after initial failures.
