Mangaluru International Airport conducts bomb threat mock drill at Cargo Terminal

Media Release

Mangaluru, Dec 29: Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) conducted its annual bomb threat mock exercise on Monday, December 29, to test preparedness and response capabilities in the event of a security threat at the airport.

According to a post shared by Adani Airport Holdings Ltd on LinkedIn, the simulated exercise involved an “abandoned bag” containing mock explosives at the integrated Cargo Terminal.

The Airport Security Group of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) neutralised the simulated threat, working in coordination with the bomb detection and disposal squad of the Karnataka State police, the Mangaluru City police, and other internal airport stakeholders.

Following the drill, a detailed debriefing session was held to review the effectiveness of the response and identify areas for improvement. The debrief was chaired by Abhishek Yadav, commandant and chief airport security officer.

Airport authorities said the exercise was aimed at strengthening coordination among multiple agencies and reaffirming preparedness to respond to potential security threats involving a high-value public infrastructure such as an airport.
