Mumbai, Dec 27: Actress Yami Gautam, who welcomed her son Vedavid in 2024, has spoken candidly about motherhood, work-life balance and the emotional transformation she experienced after becoming a mother.

In an interaction with Humans of Bombay, Yami said guilt is a powerful emotion many working mothers struggle with, but shared how her mother’s reassurance helped her overcome it. “She told me not to feel guilty and reminded me that working does not make me selfish,” the actress said, adding that motherhood does not mean giving up on one’s dreams.

Yami revealed that she was pregnant while shooting Article 370 and later resumed work when her son was nine months old, crediting her mother’s support for giving her emotional strength and confidence. She stressed the importance of having a reliable support system and said there is no harm in asking for help.

Describing the emotional shift after childbirth, Yami said she felt completely changed the moment she returned home from the hospital. Calling motherhood life-altering, she said the experience has made her stronger and introduced her to the power of selfless love.

“It’s the most beautiful feeling in the world,” she said, adding that motherhood has changed her for the better.
