India clinches T20I series vs South Africa; Hardik Pandya breaks record

Daijiworld Media Network - Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, Dec 20: India won the T20I series against South Africa 3-1, sealing the victory with a commanding 30-run win in the fifth and final match in Ahmedabad. India posted 231/5 in 20 overs, powered by aggressive batting from Tilak Varma (73) and Hardik Pandya (63), before restricting the Proteas to 201/8. India’s win capped off an impressive series performance.

In the same match, all-rounder Hardik Pandya created history, surpassing Indian great Yuvraj Singh to achieve the most instances of scoring a T20I half-century and taking a wicket in the same match for India — doing so four times in his career, a feat no other Indian has matched.

On the domestic front, TOI clinched the Media Cup title with a 37-run win over DD-AIR at the KD Singh Babu Stadium, highlighted by an unbeaten 71 from Abbas Rizvi and strong bowling by Ishtiyaq Raza.

Meanwhile, the Haryana Olympic Association has introduced a new anti-doping policy linking merit certificate issuance to mandatory doping tests for medal winners at state events — a move aimed at promoting clean sport across disciplines.

These developments highlight a busy sporting day for Indian cricket and broader efforts to strengthen competitive integrity in athletics and domestic competitions.
