Mumbai, Dec 17: Members of the Indian women’s blind cricket team, fresh from their historic triumph at the T20 Blind Cricket World Cup, shared an inspiring interaction with cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar at the MIG Cricket Club in Mumbai, marking a memorable moment in their journey.

Tendulkar spent nearly an hour with the champions, personally congratulating each player and listening attentively as they spoke about the challenges and determination that defined their path to the world title. He lauded the team’s resilience and unwavering belief, noting that their achievement went far beyond lifting a trophy.

Praising their perseverance, Tendulkar said the players had overcome significant obstacles to realise their dreams and that their World Cup victory would be remembered long after the tournament. He also acknowledged the vital support of their families, especially parents, for encouraging the athletes to pursue cricket without limitations.

Drawing from his own experience as a World Cup winner, Tendulkar reminded the team that success brings higher expectations and greater responsibility. He emphasised that the triumph should be seen not as an end, but as the beginning of a longer journey—one that now carries the power to inspire many others.

For the players, the meeting was deeply emotional. Several described it as a dream fulfilled and a powerful affirmation that their hard work had been recognised at the highest level.

Team captain Deepika TC expressed her gratitude, saying that meeting Tendulkar was an unforgettable experience. She added that his words of encouragement had strengthened the team’s resolve to work even harder and continue making the nation proud.

The interaction concluded with Tendulkar signing autographs, posing for photographs with the players, and receiving a specially autographed bat from the team.

G.K. Mahantesh, president of the Cricket Association for the Blind in India (CABI), said the meeting was a moment the team would cherish forever. He noted that Tendulkar’s support and recognition provided a huge morale boost, not only to the World Cup–winning squad but to the entire blind cricket community in India.
